About this site
Mudcritters
is virtual world where you can play games, explore, take care of
virtual creatures and particpate in various other activities.
Purpose
The primary objective is to allow users to have fun, and maybe even
learn something. The activities here
include basic arcade-style games, text-based exploration, and
a virtual economy. Some activities are likely to appeal to young
folk, other activities (such as the
text-based adventures) are probably too complicated for children.
A Family Safe Site
While some activities may be too complicated for young children,
the site is family-safe and free from objectionable content.
There is no explicit violence mentioned on the
site and the arcade action is benign, although
there is explicit competition that might be interpreted as
fighting in the "region of doom".
We have also attempted to insert some educational content into some of
the activities.
What does it cost to join
There is no cost to joining the site (see below). All we require is that you register first (to
prevent abuse), you stay polite, and you abide by the rules of conduct (i.e. you don't try and
cheat in the games).
Privacy Considerations and Privacy Policy
Mudcritters is a recreational
enterprise. We have almost no advertising of 3rd party products (excepting
our Mudcritters wearables and several books we promote to
encourage reading). We do
not sell membership lists or user information, nor do we share it with other organizations.
We do collect the name and email addresses of our users. This is used to avoid cheating,
allows us to send
news on an occasional basis, and contact users is we suspect they have engaged in
inappropriate conduct.
This site was constructed initially as
an outlet for our own friends and
families and as a learing experience for the developers. Since then it's grown a bit but
it retains the same essential focus.
Term of use
Please note the following site rules: no rude, insulting or bad language anyplace.
In particular, in the chat
area. Also, if you create a critter or object be careful not to give it a rude or insulting name, or
one that suggests something offensive or inappropriate. Violation of this rule can lead to your account being
deleted (e.g. even a name like STINKY for a critter would be somewhat inappropriate).
Users are required to keep a correct and valid email address on file
(see the preferences item at the top of the home page).
Mudcritters has no legal obligation to you. We expect to keep running for a long time,
but we make no PROMISE that we will keep going or that you will keep your account.
You cannot sue us if we delete your critters or your account.
